Summer wedding at Hampton Court House
I loved Sophie and Jack’s wedding so much. It was such a joy to be part of, and my first time photographing at Hampton Court House which was stunning. Even working on the hottest day of the year, I still very much love being a London wedding photographer!
The morning began at Sophie’s childhood home, where she got ready with her bridesmaids and family. One thing that struck me about their home is how many wonderful family photographs they had up around the house. Even as a photographer, I forget to print photos and put them up, it’s so important! Photographing prep in a family home always feels special as it adds a layer of meaning and lets you into there world for a morning. I managed to grab a few group photos of the bridal party in front of the house before heading off to Hampton Court House.
The ceremony room had been decorated with the most incredible floral arrangements by Steph Turpin at fairynuffflowers. I was really blown away by Steph’s work throughout the day, it just elevated the styling to another level. The ceremony room was packed with Sophie and Jack’s closest people, with family members speaking the chosen readings before the vows and ring exchange. Afterwards, we had a beautiful confetti moment on the steps. Always worth noting Hampton Court House only allow for a few handfuls of confetti, making timing and organisation of this moment key! With the sun blazing during the drinks reception, we found a shady spot for relaxed family photos before guests enjoyed drinks on the terrace.
The drinks reception was such a nice, relaxed vibe with guests mingling amongst the shady trees and parasols - Sophie rounded the drinks reception off with a speech. I love it when couples put speeches in the drinks reception, it really breaks up the traditional order, a win in my book! While everyone moved into the wedding breakfast, I took Sophie and Jack for a few portraits among the tropical foliage around the venue. I loved how the rich green tones contrasted with Sophie’s gorgeous hair colour (very jealous, Sophie!) Such a beautiful setting for natural, relaxed portraits.
The evening kicked off with an iconic entrance, napkins waving, followed by games with the guests and a lively dancefloor. Right at the very end of the day, we spotted a slither of sunset and snuck out for five minutes, just enough time to capture for the most beautiful golden light. It only lasted a couple of minutes, but I’m so glad we did it! Beautiful golden hour portraits to finish off their day.
If you’re planning a London wedding and are looking for a wedding photographer who captures candid, relaxed photos full of feeling and fun, I’d love to hear from you.
