Outdoor ceremony at Woodberry Wetlands, Stoke Newington

I loved photographing Emma and Matt’s outdoor celebration at Woodberry Wetlands in Stoke Newington, the day felt so relaxed and full of heart. Emma and Matt first met at school as friends, before losing touch when they went off to different universities. Years later, they both moved to London around the same time, reconnected over a drink and their story continued from there. By the time this day came around, they were already legally married, but wanted a celebration with their closest friends and family in a way that that felt true to them.

It rained at first, but that didn’t dampen the joy! They walked down the boardwalk together to meet their guests and read personal vows to each other in front of everyone. After the ceremony, everyone mingled with drinks and food, with no strict schedule and no pressure. We then snuck off for some relaxed couple photos by the reservoir. Speeches and cake followed, the sun came out and even a rainbow appeared!

Emma and Matt’s day at Woodberry Wetlands is a perfect example of the kind of weddings I love to photograph; relaxed city weddings in London with photos full of feeling and fun rather than stiff poses. If you’re planning a laid-back wedding in London or Brighton and you want natural, documentary-style wedding photography, look no further!
